Stage riders
Herman Eagles (Bywater CT) is still recovering from an injury which destroyed his GC ambitions but could still be the winner of stage 4. Riel Benet is sprinter with a very fast jump and he’s a man for the stages 5 and 6. Boudewijn Frans and Jammy Verbeek (IGF) are good TT’ers and they want to claim the prologue for their team. Lastplace1414 and his all American team led by Ron Sherman will be a man for the technical sprints in stages 2 and 6. Nairobi City Cycling Club aims for a good prologue result. Isac Tingman seems to be the man best suited for this course. An Nederlandse Tour without Rode Stier is no NL tour Rien Rogaars is an allrounder and will try to win stage 4. Conrad Fraga once won Nederlandse but now has to settle for a favorite role in stage 4 and not GC. Shinboners said farewell to the Sturmann who ruled over Nederlandse many times now how strong his team will be after his departure, Yannick Van De Put is a pure sprinter and will like the profile of stage 5 and 6. Anton Ugolnikov (Team Caridade) is a new name on the list he has a strong team but since it’s his debut we don’t think he will be GC threat yet but he can score on stage 3.Ernst Themmen (Team Washo) is a fast technical sprinter with good support we can expect him on almost all of the stages except for stage 1 and 4. Jimmy Boone(Team Wells) is a good sprinter and it would be no mistake to make him a favorite however he comes without support and in this field you really need a good team that works for you. It’s a Tour and so we find Scothern (Telstra) the allrounder will have good chances on stage 4 but a good GC won’t be very likely.
GC underdogs
The Beast Lean-Ahnfeldt Mollerup (ABK) had a bad prologue last year and he lost a podium spot in GC because of it last season. Now he’s back for revenge and could again perform very good. David Pires (greenride) was last year’s favorite but Dussel was always close and struck in the last stages. Now the tables have turned and Pires can try the strategy that cost him the victory last season. has been working on a sprinting team and this season the results seem to be good and steady, Rio Loredo is the sprinter and he will have the element of surprise as his face | | will not be known by all riders, yet. Ultrajectum said goodbye to Delavignette who gave him a podium spot last year but got one of the best scoring riders of OCM, Hanke Vibbard the number 5 of the all time ranking wants to win that major result before a possible retirement. Blast normally sends Jan Thompsen as captain but he’s still recovering from a small injury. Willy Malmros takes over and this could be a golden move.
GC favorites
Inigo Ballestero (johny2) spent the last few weeks supporting Hugo Parv in Germany but also won the prologue now Parv is supporting Ballestero and the rest of the team proved to be in good shape to.
Izak van Bethlehem has built toward this tour the entire season and unlike the other favorites was not in Germany Tour meaning his team will be more rested. Secondly the Quick step minded team has a strong bond and it will show in the race. Jan-Joost Dussel (peddelen) proved to be more than a sprinter in Germany he took 6 stages and SC but more important kept up with the climbers and defended his advantage and won GC. He is the man who is expected to win this race and most people do not question if he’s going to win but how many stages he will take
