Fergal Lemire has been a familiar face around the OCM circuit.

Ever since he started racking results he just hasn’t been able to stop.

Funny enough, his career started at team cway, but he never quite had any success there, but a move to Danish Team Elfenben made room for improvement and results.

Season 7 was a great season for the englishman, with a total of 9 results, the most memorable probably stage 10 of the Germany Tour.

Then came season 8, a bit more discrete, but also with a change of teams, back to home turf in cway.

Back in form for season 9, he really exploded into the OCM circuit, making it hard and strong against an ever better competition. 1 stage, another 2 second places, third in the green jersey competition and a fantastic third overall in the ever popular Germany Tour to make a fantastic total of top 13 results. Many points, much money and a season to remember as he ended it on top of the General Classification.

After much chasing around after this very, very active rider, we finally managed to find some time with him to chat a bit about the season.

We have to thank him for taking time to chat with us, but we

also have to thank team manager cway for his help. It wouldn’t be possible without him.

Q: You finished season 9 in the first place, do you feel you are the best sprinter?
FL: I don't know about the best sprinter, I am certainly up there, what makes me different is the team. The whole squad is committed to winning.

Q: Do you prefer one day races or big tours?
FL: One day races are the bread and butter. It might sound crazy but tours are fun (smiles).

Q: You missed out on the green jersey at Germany Tour. Some people said it was lack of proper support. Do you feel that was a failure?

FL: Things changed at Germany, originally I was going for the Green Jersey but as time wore on my name wouldn't disappear from the top 5 overall, so the focus shifted to obtaining the highest position in the GC. I think it was more of an achievement for a sprinter with a sprinters team to finish 3 in Germany than win the Green Jersey.

Q: Can you finish season 10 in the first place again?
FL: I hope so, I want as many wins as I can get and having already got one under my belt plus a 3rd in races I didn't compete in last year makes me

confident.

Q: What about newcomer sprinters, anyone catches your eye?
FL: There are a lot of up and comers, the thing in this game is that someone could be riding in the lower divisions at the start of the season and competing with the best of us by the end. I do like the look of Vyacheslav Koussevitzky (Babon) he may not be an out and out sprinter but he is a talent.

Q: Your team also has Aedan Weaire. Is there enough room for both of you?
FL: Aeden is great, we share a room most races, we have a pact. I will help him in races that better suit him. It is important to develop young talent and was so happy for him when he won in Maputo at the end of last season. Having won the race the year before I knew how much an effort it was.

Q: Any big plans / dreams for the future?
FL: Essex, it has been a team goal for a number of years and I think we can win it this year.

Q: So, finally a big win on English roads?
FL: London - Norwich followed by Essex. Or Southampton - Croydon as in Season 8.

Q: The Germany Tour green next year?
FL: Either that or overall victory ;) Elias (Marquèz, Team Weeny) has to lose at some point.
