33 and too old for cycling?

Sune Nikolajsen has been around the OCM professional circus for ages.
Having spent most of his career at Team Tirilla, he left the team last year, under a cloud of allegations about his abilities and commitment to the team.
The big man was able to pick himself up and signed a new contract with division 4 outfit grog.
Soon after he was back in form, taking first at Al Basrah #5.
He then started season 9 quite well, taking 4 top 3 results in just a few weeks.
But, surprisingly, he was out the door again. The manager of grog commented on the issue, saying both side reached an agreement to end the contract.
Sune Nikolajsen has been without a contract for

some time now, and things don't look so good as no teams seem to want to sign him.
We caught up with Sune last week on a back road near his home in Denmark, where he's been keeping fit by himself.
"It's been a hard few weeks, riding alone, but I'm confident my luck will turn and I'll find a team soon" he said.
Then added "At least I'm having time to spend with my kids, take them so school and just do some normal stuff".
When asked about rumors about him starting a new team with long time friend and team mate Ulrich Owe, he said it was "just newspaper talk".
From us, we just wish to see him back on the road soon. At 33, he certainly still has a lot on those legs.

Here are some of the highlights of Sune Nikolajsen's career:

  1. Germany Tour, Stage 9 - #4

  1. Germany Tour, Stage 2 - #6

  1. Astana GP #6

  1. Lens - Somain #1
