Extending the Classic Calendar

Not only cyclists and teammanagers are giving the OCM management a hard time with their demands and wishes. Also the race organizers want to be heard and use every moment to address the OCM management about their wishes.
In division three and division five, race organisers think that their division is worthy of an extention of the classics calender.
The organisers in division three demanded even that the classics calender should be extended with two more classic races. These classics should complement the already exsisting calender.
Division five will get one extra classic, which will double the amount of classics there.

After the OCM management agreed to their wishes many raceorganisers applied for a Classic promotion. From this vast amount of applications only a few could survive.
For a Classic promotion only the best of the best will do.
OCM has found some managers willing to sacrifice their valuable time and make a shortlist of future Classic races. It was choosen that a cobble and an allround race would promote to the Classic category in division three.
For the cobble classic, there are three nominees. The Belgium race of Turnai - Turnai, the Czech contender Ropice - Ropice and the American Greenville cobble.
All three have an outstanding history and organisation.

  USA Greenville Cobble
The American race Greenville cobbles is on the calender for eight seasons.
And has some interesting winners, with some national riders and a favourite in the Tweedaagse van Antwerpen who started his cobble steps in Greenville.

  Czech Republic Ropice - Ropice
The Czech Ropice - Ropice is another special cobble race. The town of Ropice is well known for its cobbles around the place.

And the riders always enjoy coming to the eastern part of the Czech republic for seven straight seasons now. And therefor has delivered many great cobble riders to the OCM. The even manage to get Donato Nardiello, a former winner and now national rider, to support this event.

  Belgium Turnai - Turnai
Last, but not least, is the typical Belgium race of Turnai - Turnai. Cobbles everywhere you look. There is a rumour that most cobble roads around Turnai already existed when the Romans came.
Most notable winner is Viktor Giffurt, who is now aiming for the Roubaix crown in the first division.

Then there will be an Allround classic in which also three organisers applied for promotion.
These three are; the English Yarmouth GP, the American tour of Hawaii and the Welsh Devils Bridge Race.

  Canada Yarmouth GP
Yarmouth Gp is having a good line up with big winners who love to come to this Eastern Nova Scotia seaside town amongst them, Co Veneberg, Olaf Ansell and Bazyli Ambroziak.

  USA The Tour of Hawaii
The Tour of Hawaii is always full for the past seven seasons. Most likely for the good weather, and nice racetrack that goes past the sea and up the vulcano of Mauna Loa.
Big names on the trophee, that weighs around 5 kilo's and is one of the heaviest trophee's on OCM around, are, Salim Wajeeh, Knut Pave and Joselito Rangel

  Wales Devils Bridge race
The last that wants to promote is the race around the Devils Bridge in Wales. This race has many loyal followers and has in Melville Stivers and Ingeman Kloster some good winners.
Also there is an old rider associated to this race and it is Elias Holmstrom from Sweden, who once was the #1 in OCM ranking, and he always

loved this race.

Division five will also be extended with a new Classic. For this election, again, the committee have spoken to many organisers that wanted a classic. The Russian Ochjor Climbs, the
Andorran Juberri - Pas de la Casa and the Venezuelan El Limon - El Carman have proved themselves in the last four seasons to be a good extention to the classics calender of division five.

  Russia Ochjor Climbs
Ochjor Climbs, the Russian mountain race. Popular from the start.
Very tough and this race allows only the best to win it. Dutch climbers such as Werner de Bode and Coos Merenga have won it. These mountains are worthy of a classic nomination.

Andorra Juberri - Pas de la Casa
The second contestant will be the race in Andorra; Juberri - Pas de la Casa. This Southern Andorra town is hoping for a Classic and with this very hard race they have a very good chance of winning it. Great organisation, always full and with Rob Roesems a Belgium winner that is now picking of World Tours for Kernow.

Venezuela El Limon - El Carman
And finally the race in Venezuela, El Limon - El Carman. Very popular race, with many hills and mountains. Most notable winner is Canadian national rider Landon Tolman.
This race test the full climbing abilities of a rider.

We would like for the community of the OCM to vote for your favourite race. The promotion is in your hand. You can pick your most favourite race.
And when you vote, think of the ones that made this possible, YOU, the managers with the help of Espen from nrk, Holger from Asymm Project, Pete from peddelen, Andrew from Canuck racing, Finz from NightmareChaos and Anthony from HC Alpine.

Really great work from this Committee. I'd like to receive something, apart from business class flights and five-star hotels...

By the way, I like the american combo for Div.3

Great work guys! And Finz, I've told torriera to fix the author. I don't want to take the honor for the article even though I'd like too. ;)

great article! I'm excited to see the winners :)

Torreira at 19:35 25/4-2011
Sorry about the mix up. Totally did not read the original message from nrk right. That's what happens when you only "cross read" to save time.

I'd be excited to see the winners in a miss wet t-shirt competition too... :D

Canuck Racing at 22:14 25/4-2011
Just noticed, according to this link ( http://www.cyclingsimulator.com/?page=Race&race=Yarmouth%20GP ), Yarmouth GP is a Canadian race, not English

Asymm Project at 23:12 25/4-2011
"Eastern English" may be "Eastern Canadian", true.

Yarmouth is great. The British version at least is :p
